Following a trip through the towering Taurus Mountains, it’s on to Konya to explore the monastery of a thousand whirling dervishes (admission included) before continuing on to Göreme. Over millennia, volcanic eruptions, wind and weather have created a timeless landscape with captivating tuff formations.
The open-air museum in Göreme (admission included) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, with its numerous cloisters, cave churches and wall paintings, is the highlight of any trip to Cappadocia.
Before descending down into the subterranean towns, you will first be introduced to a magical world in the Valley of the Monks. Unique rock formations and constantly changing colour patterns will be imprinted in your memory forever. Then it’s off for a trek down the historic silk road, lined with numerous mediaeval caravanserais along the way.
